About the Book:
Ten years ago Ivy Breckenridge’s life was ruined. She had to reinvent herself, and now, after painstakingly making her own way in the world, she’s nearly forgotten the dreams of home and family she’d once nurtured. Until one man peers into her soul and awakens every one of her hidden desires. But no matter how good he makes her feel, she can’t trust him—alone by choice is better than alone by necessity.
With a notorious reputation for training married women in the art of passion, Sebastian Westgate, Duke of Clare, is reviled by some and celebrated by others. He doesn’t allow anyone close enough to see past his charming exterior. When Ivy uncovers the man beneath, the seducer is suddenly the seduced. Enraptured by her mind and spirit, he wants more but revealing his darkest secrets is a price he won’t pay.

Ivy Breckenridge is a strong woman. She has been through more than most. She seems a bit maudlin in the beginning, but once you know more about her story, you realize it’s a self-preservation thing. She is a very complex character and I simply adored her.
The Duke of Clare, Sebastian “West” Westgate, is a consummate rake on first acquaintance. He will sleep with anyone’s wife. But he also grows on you with further inspection. He is more of a therapist. Which sounds almost laughable as I write it. He, with husbands permission, teaches women how to be satisfied and to satisfy their men in the bedroom.
thereby making the ton a more satiated pleasurable place. It’s funny now, but at first I was pretty well taken aback.
West shows Ivy a side of him that the ton does not see, a generous, caring nature that matches her own and so she starts to see him in a different light.
Darcy Burke is one of my favorites, I will admit. This book, I think is one of my all time favorites. I’ve read the others in the Series and many of hero therapy books. For some reason, this one really grabbed me. The characters are good people on the inside even if they don’t all seem to be on the outside. They are true to themselves and they care about others of lower station no matter what.
The writing is wonderful, pulling emotions from me on several occasions. The scenes setting makes you feel like you are there.
I Ave read the previous books in this series, but you don’t have to have read them to love this book. It could be a standalone with no problem.
I’m giving this one a hearty 5 stars.
Darcy does it again!
I received an ARC of this title.
